John Ehlers III | Trumpet

John L. Ehlers, III is a Washington, DC area-based trumpet player. He currently performs with big bands, jazz combos, and other ensembles throughout the DC area including the Wammie (Washington Area Music Award) winning Hot Lanes Big Band and Ensemble 29 brass quintet. He has also been a member of The Tom Cunningham Orchestra, the Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic, and appeared at Blues Alley, Mr. Henry’s, and other venues throughout the region. John studied jazz at James Madison University where he performed in the Jazz Band, Jazz Ensemble, and multiple chamber ensembles. In 2006 he went on tour with the JMU Jazz Ensemble to Montreal, the Montreux Jazz Festival, and the North Sea Jazz Festival.
